The SDO5 SMΔRT+ is CENTURION's next-generation domestic garage door operator and the direct successor to the SDO4 SMΔRT. It combines normal mains-powered operation with connected control and monitoring, while allowing battery backup to be added where continued access during a power interruption is important.
A Modern Garage Door Motor Built Around Control, Visibility & Daily Use
Normal operation is mains driven, while backup batteries can be added separately rather than forming the normal power source for the motor. It also introduces CENTURION's newer SMΔRT+ connected environment.
For homeowners who want a modern motor, lower-profile installation and greater visibility over garage access, the combination of belt drive, connected control and optional backup is what makes the SDO5 different.
SDO5 SMΔRT+ T10 vs T12
Both models use the same connected platform and mains-driven architecture. The T12 adds more rated motor power and capacity for larger or heavier domestic applications.

The SDO5 SMΔRT+ supports BLE and Wi-Fi and works within CENTURION's connected MyCentsys environment. This gives compatible remote status and control functionality beyond a traditional handheld remote.
The connected platform is useful when you want greater visibility over whether the garage door is open or closed, or need secure remote assistance and access without standing next to the motor.
Mains Driven, With Battery Backup When You Need It
During normal operation the SDO5 SMΔRT+ is powered from the mains. If backup operation is required, the optional battery kit can be added. This keeps everyday mains operation separate from the backup function.
220V–240V AC input feeds the operator's 24V DC motor system through its transformer arrangement.
CENTURION specifies an optional 2.9Ah battery-backup kit with battery-saving and testing functionality.
Published standby operation can be up to 70 cycles when backup is fitted, depending on door size, weight, height, outage duration and battery condition.
The manufacturer notes that solar supply is possible, but this should be planned with a suitably trained installer.

The SDO5 Is the Successor to the SDO4 SMΔRT
CENTURION announced the SDO4 SMΔRT as discontinued in 2026, with remaining stock available while it lasts and ongoing support planned. The SDO5 SMΔRT+ is the replacement generation.
The Motor Must Be Matched to a Mechanically Sound Garage Door
The SDO5 is intended for suitable sectional and tip-up garage doors. It is not the correct operator for a roll-up garage door, which uses a different motor and drive arrangement.
Before installation, the door should be checked for balance, smooth travel, suitable hardware and the available headroom required for the operator and rail. A larger motor should not be used to compensate for a door that is mechanically difficult to move.

Is the CENTURION SDO5 SMΔRT+ battery driven?
No. It is mains driven during normal operation. An optional battery-backup kit can be added for backup operation during power interruptions.
What is the difference between the SDO5 T10 and T12?
The T10 has an 80W rated motor, 1000N maximum published holding capacity and 12m² maximum published door area. The T12 increases this to 100W, 1200N and 15m², and includes a Wireless Wall Pendant.
Can the SDO5 SMΔRT+ control my garage door from a phone?
Yes, through supported CENTURION SMΔRT+ functionality. The SDO5 supports BLE and Wi-Fi and works within the compatible MyCentsys connected environment.
Does the SDO5 work during load shedding or a power failure?
It can if the optional battery-backup kit has been fitted and the batteries are in suitable condition. Actual backup performance depends on the door, battery condition and duration of the outage.
Can the SDO5 be installed on a roll-up garage door?
No. The SDO5 is for suitable sectional and tip-up garage doors. Roll-up garage doors require a dedicated roll-up operator.
Is the SDO5 designed for quiet operation?
Yes. It uses a belt-drive system and is designed for quiet domestic operation. Actual sound also depends on the garage door, tracks, rollers and installation condition.
Do I need safety beams with an SDO5 installation?
Infrared safety beams are compatible and recommended by the manufacturer. They are required if the auto-close function is used.
Should I replace my existing SDO4 with an SDO5?
Not automatically. If an existing SDO4 is operating correctly and can still be supported, replacement may not be necessary. The SDO5 is more relevant for a new installation, an upgrade to newer connected features or where the existing operator is no longer practical to retain.
